Yet even more games that I am glad were never made...

Postby pierski » Thu Jul 26, 2007 2:24 am

A friend of mine likes the Games that I am glad were never made... series and is always suggestion that I should do more. It wasn't until ConnectiCon and Otakon that I found out reader's like them as well. First I did another Rejected Mega Man Villains because the readers at the cons wanted it and now I did another Games that I am glad were never made... for the exact same reason. Just goes to show you're a lot more likely to convince me to do something if you ask me in person.

Okay, so we've got a Shrek game called Shrek's Donkey Punch. Its not really based on any particular game, its more a play on the names of the characters Shrek and Donkey. And for those of you who don't know what a donkey punch is... here's a work friendly link you can click to learn more about this interesting subject.

Jacko's Bizarre Adventure is a parody of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure which was released on multiple platforms. I've never actually played the game, but I saw it all the time when I used to work at Best Buy. Maybe I should pick it up. The only real decision is for which console.

Lastly, you've got Battletoads: Hard Version. When you first pick up and play Battletoads for the NES three things will quickly become clear. One, it had graphics that pushed the envelope of what the NES could do. Two, it was a fun game. And three, it is friggin' hard as hell. The third level of the games where you ride hovercycles around is excruciatingly difficult. IGN rated it number eight in the top ten toughest games to beat (I think they were being nice). I have never actually met anyone whom has beaten the NES version of this game without using a Game Genie. So obviously if the game is that friggin' hard, the last thing I would want to see is an even hard version. Right?

Quick links back to the previous Games that I am glad were never made.... Here's the first one, the second one, the third one and the fourth one... I didn't even realize that it had been over eight months since the last one of these until I was working on this one.

Classic. Well... the first two definitely are. I'll pretend to understand the third one, because I never had an NES. I had a SMS. And I stand by my decision.

Battletoads Hard Version cracked me up. God that game was a bitch to beat. I knew how to get infinite lives, though, so I made it a lot farther into the game than most of my friends. (Interestingly enough, my way of getting infinite lives was not a cheat, but an exploit in game mechanics.)

Y'know, this isn't the first time I've heard someone say this about the game, and while, yes, it was 'challenging,' as I would describe it, I never had THAT much trouble with it....

Maybe I should get an account on something awful and do a Let's Play video of it or something. Just to show people it can be done. *shrug*

I always loved the Rejected Megaman and Games that were never made series. I don't know how you keep coming up with such awesome ideas. Battletoads though, I've only ever played the Genesis version of it, so I don't know if the difficulty is the same, but it wasn't ever hard, just challenging in some spots.

The Genesis is watered down as far as difficulty goes. I highly recommend everyone plays the original Battletoads at least once so that they can go prematurely gray.

For those that want to play Battletoads and do not own a NES+Cartridge, here you go. Enjoy!

And here's the link to the site's main. Just hit a letter or number for the game you want and enjoy. Linkage to the Xtreme!

Hey man, it's that guy that dressed up like Kung Lao at Connecticon

Dude, I don't think I could beat Battletoads even WITH a game genie.... and even with using an emulator and save states, I STILL can't do it. I tell ya.... Battletoads has got to be the hardest game ever made.

Keep it up man, the rejected Megaman villains and the games that were never made are totally awesome!!

I played Battletoads so much as a kid, loved the game. Warps make it so much easier to beat the game, but still fun to beat without them. The only real trouble was the third level when you are landing after a jump and for some reason you just go keep going down, and the hand wheel level.

Me and my mate decided to play Battletoads again a few months ago at uni.

Even now, as adult students and professional time-wasters we couldn't get very far with it. Procrastination was to no avail. We just sucked at it.

Jeez, y'all are crazy. Maybe it's just my preference (I love challenging games) But I loved Battletoads, enjoyed the challenge (and surpassed it) and would honestly WELCOME a harder version (I suppose Battlemaniacs on SNES kind of counts in that regard, but that game was so awful it's not really worth it =/ ).

And it's not even the HARDEST game I've ever played. That goes to the XBox Ninja Gaiden. STILL haven't beaten that on any difficulty above Normal.

I too agree upon Ninja Gaiden on Xbox being the hardest game I have ever played. I have not been able to beat that flying pink boob lady for the first time on...probably normal difficulty. It probably doesn't help though that I don't play the game too much anymore due to horrendous load times, although that might just be the BC on my Xbox360.

Ah... that bitch Alma

I found the game wasn't too hard after I finally got over her, she was definitely my major stumbling block.

God Hand would be harder if it's continue system wasn't so generous.
