Lair, Lair, Patch who Cares!

Lair is finally getting it's patch on Thursday [source PS3 Fanboy]. Neat!

The update not only allows a left analogue stick control scheme, but a better aiming function as well as two new dragons to mount and ride. Yep -- now you have the Wind and Poison dragons at your beck and call. But that's not all -- new custom themes will be available that change at random on startup.

Now the real question is: Does anyone really care? The game got so much bad PR that I'm not sure what could possibly help it. Seriously. Maybe Factor 5 should just lick their wounds, say "fine" and go make a new Rogue Squadron game.

Oh, and don't forget to scroll down on the Dueling Analogs homepage for details about a brand new donation drive.

Meh, if the patch is any good I'd buy the game. I've always been a fan of Ace Combat, so dragons make it 10x better.

Funny thing, I've owned a PS3 for almost 5 months now and I still haven't bought a game for it yet. Hell, my copy of MotorStorm is still in the wrapper. Sucks...

It's a case of too little, too late. They could have included DualShock controls with the original version. Then, none of this would have ever been a problem. But they were very adamant that the game only could be done with the Sixaxis (apparently only has a new meaning these days). If they had given the players a choice, the reviews might have been "The Sixaxis controls miss the mark, but the DualShock version works very well", But they didn't.

Regardless, 8+ months of bad PR are not going to be easily remedied or possibly remedied at all. I guess this is to help the Japanese version as the update is being released in Japan first (if not only). Because in Japan there's only +5 months of bad PR.
