There's nothing like some good old fashioned Sony chaffing to let you know I've returned. Funny situation, though, in the past few months I haven't played my Wii once, haven't played my Xbox in a month or so and haven't played my PS3 since yesterday. Ironic... I guess. That word is so hard to use correctly.

As far as the comic goes, I made the size of the consoles represent the amount of systems that were sold during the first 26 months they were available. Honestly... I used the grid inside of Adobe Illustrator to make sure that they were all correct. Wii is 17.5 million, Xbox 360 is 9.2 million and the PS3 is 6.79 million [source]. And with those numbers: the Wii is on track to be the PS2 of this generation, the PS3 is on track to be the Gamecube of this generation and the Xbox is on track to be the Xbox of this generation... seriously, the Xbox is Xbox. Or Ed is Ed... not really.

And I didn't make up the "early adopter" bit [source]. That's what makes it funny for me. So remember guys if you're ever uncomfortable about your penis size around your lady friends, just let them know your wang is in it's "early adopter phase."

Would you like to take a survey? We're gathering information to more accurately identify the Dueling Analogs audience. And the more of you taking the survey, the more it helps. Thanks!

I'm an active follower/poster on VG Chartz. I don't know if you take them with a grain of salt, but with regard to sales, in America, you're comic is completely true, but worldwide (aka what really matters when it comes to putting games on certain systems) in the "first 26 months" the PS3 is ahead:

I just realized I can't post a link, but if you go to VG Chartz, and go the "Chartz" and then go to Hardware from Launch, you'll see what I'm talking about

Just an FYI

This is the first twenty-six months we're talking about and I can't get it to go before 2007 for the Gamecube.

Same survey, but they affect the comics individually.

Woo, go wii! Let's go play some... uh... Wii Music? No that's not right. Wii Fit? No, not right either. Stripped down bare bones of Dead Rising's younger brother who's missing a few chromosomes?

You see where I'm going here.

I agree. The Wii rocks! Thanks General WX. I couldn't have said it better myself.

Hi, long time reader, first time dancer.

Since I can't post links, I'll just tell you to go to vgchartz, click on Chartz and then Hardware from Launch and choose your consoles as GC, PS3 and 360 and watch the magic.
Actually, it is showing that the PS3 is performing better than the 360 in it's first two years.

This is from the collective data released by the NPD Group, the official tracker of U.S. video game sales. I put more stock in the official tracker over VG Chartz.

Hell, on VG Chartz own about us page they state: "VG Chartz collects and makes projections of sell-through data from retailers for a variety of different markets..." So they guess. And honestly, they'd have to do what they're doing. But it doesn't make it as accurate, either.

Might I point out that the sales thing is a real case of "each to one's own". Although in the Western regions the American built 360 is a country mile ahead of the Playstation, our lovely friends in Japan have produce a slightly different story. Evidently a similar bias has sprouted as the Japanese PS3 is actually beating Microsoft's arse in its home country. [/ps3defence]

Also, I'm fed-up of the Wii bashing brought on by the weedier Dead Rising game. People are treating it like it's the only core Wii game to come out in 2009, and need to stop whining and suck the proverbial dick of some other new Wii game (may I suggest No More Heroes 2? kthxbai). [/wiidefence]

And frankly, I can't bring myself to defend the Xbox. Sorry.

Actually, I find them pretty accurate and from what I understand they take their job pretty seriously.
You can't compare it with the NPD because they only track the U.S. and when it comes to the success of consoles, it is really about global numbers. American numbers, where it is well know that the 360's lead over PS3 is significantly larger, is not a good representative for the current gen of consoles.

This from a guy who posted Nexgenwars as a source... oh snap!!!

VGChartz takes data all over the WORLD, i've seen the sales track and when official data like NPD comes out they do the adjustments, which are pretty minimum, the site is the most accurate between the non-official sales sites...

You can choose in "hardware from launch" the region if you want America, Europe, Others or Japan... If you're taking NPD only then choose "America"... But you don't wanna fall in the redneck-ish view that the World is USA only...
Roberto Duran, Mariano Rivera, Ruben Blades, Justine Pasek, Rod Carew, Ramiro Mendoza, Los Rabanes, El General, The Canal, Flex, Match & Daddy, El Roockie, Eddy Lover, Irving Saladino, Laffit Pincay, Danilo P?©rez, Omar Alfano... to name a few...

I deserved that.

Fine, the NPD is America. But once again they are the official tracker of stats in the U.S. Go to their site and look for yourself. Look and see that they've been around since 1967 (not 2005) and is used by over 1,600 companies, of which a lot are HUGE. Their longevity, clients and credentials dwarf those of VG Chartz.

So, why am I saying this? Because NPD has a stronger argument for it's U.S. figures to be drastically more accurate than those of VG Chartz. By acknowledging this it brings into question the accuracy of the rest of VG Chartz's statistics. Especially since their "first 26 month" statics differ from those of the NPD by anywhere from 5 - 10 million.

Admittedly, the only sales chart I can cite is ONM UK, but y'know, they don't twist results because no matter which is the "best console", the Wii is comfortably ahead and... they don't need to change charts.
