iPhoned It In
Nintendo Wii was released on November 19, 2006 and the Apple iPhone was released on June 29, 2007. That was Nintendo's territory first.
Personally, I don't have an iPhone. Can't actually convince myself that I need one. I'm a hardcore Mac user and I just can't justify it. I've tried. Oh, how I've tried... I've had restless nights where I searched for one single reason I needed this impulse buy. Couldn't justify it. Oh, there were reasons. Good ones too. But I could always come up with a counter argument that trumped it every time. And so I am still iPhoneless with only myself to blame for my defeat... iPwned.
Keeping it short and sweet still have some other stuff to do. In short, I think a good majority of the iPhone games blow. Not trying to stir up any trouble though... they just do.

The iPhones alright, im a windows user I dislike mac things...., but I got my iPhone as a gift for Christmas, and, after using it, I cant see my self using another type of phone now. From its bigger than normal screen size for a phone, apps, and touch screen. Its just pretty awesome, being able to do a lot of stuff on it, and it definitely cures boredom during class!

I've got an iPod Touch for a while now. Syncs great with my iCal, that's the main reason I bought it. Other than that, I use the notes a lot and surf the web with it while sitting in the couch, not wanting to go get my MacBook. The only regret I have is that it's not my cellphone as I now have to have 2 devices in my pocket rather than only one.

The iPhone is the pinnacle of human technology to date
I say this as a 20-year usability (information architecture/human interface) engineer.
For the longest time, I carried a simple flip-phone on one hip and an iPod Nano on the other. "Why," I asked myself, "would I need an iPhone if I already had both the iPod and a perfectly serviceable phone already?" When I received one as a gift, I arrived at my answer.
The truth is this: it is so very much more than the sum of its parts. The sheer staggering functionality it possesses across such a diverse and varied landscape of utility has made me a convert. I swear by it. It's a phone, a research utility, a micro-computer, a gaming machine, and so much more. Think about it: the thing's a tricorder, communicator, and GPS system all in one!
Are there other phones out there that are as good? Sure, with some noted exceptions:
I'm not an Apple fanboy; I use a PC and have no other Apple toys. Are there things wrong with it? Sure. No copy/paste, no turn-by-turn GPS without subscription, no tethering.
But I can say this: there's a reason for the hype. It's deserved. If I had to pick a single favorite possession, it's my iPhone; over my laptop, over my consoles, over my skydiving rig, hell, over my CAR, still the iPhone. I have gotten more entertainment, use, and functionality from this single purchase than anything else, ever (I use it 10 times more than a television).
Dollar for dollar, it's the best purchase I've ever made, and would have been a steal at twice the price. This isn't fanboyism; Apple just nailed it with this one. I challenge you to use one for a month- really, really USE it: buy apps from appstore, jailbreak it if you like- and see if you can envision NOT using it afterward. Honestly: each time you buy a phone, an MP3 player, a Netbook, you're just wasting money that would have made you happier. It's trendy and overhyped, but hey, sometimes people love something for a reason.

- The iPhone (all iPods, really) have received such global acceptance that positively EVERYTHING is iCompatible. You can buy chargers at GAS STATIONS, and find everything from $800 Bose sound-systems to $30 toilet paper dispensers that dock with them.
- Apple bent over backwards for format compatibility. One of my favorite uses for my iPhone is listening to audiobooks. Apple ensured both .AA format compatibility, as well as tooling their UI to be conducive to the pursuit.
- The battery life on the thing is positively mythic, considering the utility.
