I was trying for a Mindless Self Indulgence reference for the title, but couldn't think of one.

Nope, don't expect the DS and DSi to be sharing the shelves together for long. That's probably the reason why Nintendo is delaying the release of the DSi North America... so they can get rid of there stock of Nintendo DSs.

Just a heads up, we recieved the Gato Hero shirts and Voting Obama shirts today. We'll be shipping them out today and tomorrow. So look for them in the mail very soon. Also, I'm going to be adding a set of stickers to BigBoomBomb.com in the coming weeks and they'll be dirt cheap too. So, keep an eye out for them as well.

But that's like saying Nintendo is marketing the Wii along side the DS. Both play video games, but one is more powerful.

God I hate that Nintendo does this. They did it to me with GBA and now I gotta suffer too with the NDS. I was already saving for a PSP, I dont think I can buy this DSi.

This reminds me of the GBA Micro.

They released it a few months after the original DS came out. It didn't make a lot of sense, considering the DS plays GBA games, and since its release I've only heard of a handful of people who bought it.

It was a nice piece of kit, too. It was just a little late to the party to make an impact.

Negative, because that's the equivalent of marketing the iMac next to the iPod.

Granted you're comparing a portable system to a non, but the iPod Touch and the old iPod are night and day. The iPod touch is a portable computer that can go on the internet that people make new programs for, plays games and do whatever. The last generation is an MP3/video player... with some rudimentary stuff (when compared to the iPod Touch).

I think they will... I mean they will have to... From my knowledge the DSi doesn't have a GBA slot... meaning that Pokemon and Guitar Hero on DS will become redundant as they wont be able to get everything out of them... what with the lack of older pokemon games or the GH thing which plugs INTO that slot... This goes for any other game which has special things to do with the GBA slot....

But it's not like Guitar Hero DS is this massive success that defines the system. And by the time the next DS Pokemon game comes out, I'm sure everyone (who's still playing) will have done all they need to on the GBA games, so they won't need the extra slot.

Yes but with Pokemon DPP (i am guessing this will be the same for platinum) and any other future releases of Pokemon you can move GBA pokemon to your DS. And Pokemon is a very big franchise. So plenty of pokemon peeps will get annoyed if they don't have a DS yet...

Also I just see this as Nintendo trying to make the DS a Proper Console. With all the online stuff... I mean it is a hand held, so the chances are you are going to play it MOSTLY on the go... like in car trips or on holiday where all you have is a DS and a book... Or a plane journey... and most of those don't have internet access... Portable consoles in my view are meant to be more light hearted gaming platforms... that you can play for a few minutes at a time in between things... unlike other games where you play for at least an hour or something

Guitar Hero DS doesn't do anything for me, i play real guitar, and i enjoy the GH and RB games because they're guitar simulators (and other instruments as well), i don't like pushing buttons in a DS that doesn't look like a guitar...
Roberto Duran, Mariano Rivera, Ruben Blades, Justine Pasek, Rod Carew, Ramiro Mendoza, Los Rabanes, El General, The Canal, Flex, Match & Daddy, El Roockie, Eddy Lover, Irving Saladino, Laffit Pincay, Danilo P?©rez, Omar Alfano... to name a few...

There are Pokemon players out there who HAVEN'T played Diamond and Pearl yet?!

Still, things like Net Battle are making things like EV training and cross-game trading obsolete.

That's odd...I rarely play my DS anywhere but at home.

Oshi, somebody else that knows about NB/Shoddy?

It really is too bad that NB has become such a shithole nowadays, Shoddy is an inferior program in every way but with no D/P support and Competitor being essentially vaporware at this point there really doesn't leave much choice for people who want to play a D/P simulator or play back metagames ;-;

Regarding the next gen of Pokemon games, I remember reading some official press release that 500 was going to be the tops for the amount of Pokemon, so any new Pokemon DS game isn't going to really introduce much new, and thus losing GBA to DS support will probably be of no ill consequence; suffice to say we might be seeing some DS remakes and just some promotional Pokemon rather than any sort of significantly new adventures (GSC remake please please please please please)

On topic...This has always been a marketing strategy of Nintendo that has puzzled me. Hopefully it will pay off for them, although I really doubt it.
