I felt the animation was a nice touch.

Before I posted the news here I was trying to find an awesome video a saw online a while back about why the NES did the whole blinking thing. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find it. The video wasn't so much about the blinking as more talking about the difference between the NES and the Famicom systems, of which the Famicom didn't do the whole blinking thing.

I remember it has something to do with what the difference between 60-pin vs. 72-pin cartridges and what each of the pins did. And in the video they also talked about the sound difference between the NES and Famicom versions of Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse.

I know, random information. But if anyone knows which video I'm talking about, post it in this entries' forum thread and then I can update the main page with a link to it. I think it would add some good background information for this comic.

[update - Tuesday 11:29AM EST] Ghegs was so kind enough to tell me where the video was located. It was done by Famicom Dojo and that episode in particular was called Cartridges and Pins. It's an entertaining and informative watch.[/update]

I really enjoyed the forum discussion for the last comic. Good times, good times. Thanks to everyone who participated in it as well as everyone who took the time to follow along. I appreciate it.

I think I know what clip you're referring to, and it took me a bit of searching but I did eventually find it. Just search Youtube for Famicom Dojo, it's the Cartridges and Pins -episode.

I'd post the link but can't because I'm a new user...

I'll never think of cartridge consoles the same way again. Maybe I should wear gloves when using my gameboy.

I was a FAMICOM owner, but my cousin had the NES, so we both had the 2 adaptors (we bought them in a chinese store), but i never knew that some NES games were the FAMICOM versions with the adapter...

Just wanted to mention that this comic has received more traffic in a single day than any other Dueling Analogs comic ever has. And by a substantial margin, too.

Sexual references, retro video game console references, comic height, animation.....

Wow that takes me back, not that I'd ever played NES Golf but still the whole painful experience of getting the damn games to work was always fun. o.o

Tiger-Heli FTW! Which I think I'll go play now, thank goodness for emulators.

I remember we used to blow the game, put alcohol, insert it and slap the side of the NES, move the inserted game to the left or right, reinsert the game several times, put one cartridge on top of the other... If none of that worked i brought my FAMICOM to my cousin's house and used my adapter...

Hey congrats Steve for the ratings boost...
