Diablow III
First off, the big announcement I promised today is that there will be a new Dueling Analogs store on Thursday. And on Thursday when said store opens I will finally be taking pre-orders for the Rejected Mega Man Villains poster. Stay tuned...
As far as gaming goes we've had some pretty good announcements recently... Diablo III, Beyond Good and Evil 2 and Mega Man 9. But do we deserve it?
Seriously, how often do gamers clammer for a must make game? Claiming that if it were made they would buy it and it would be a huge success. Well, here's three of those games that we've been wanting. Will you reward their decisions or will these just be another Okami? Remember, more people are opting to wait to buy their games used instead of new. Guess what? Used games don't make the people who create them anything. They do make GameStop rich, though.
Honestly, when I look at the three titles I mentioned know Diablo III and Mega Man 9 will do just fine. Beyond Good and Evil 2 is what I'm truly worried about. Why? Because the original flopped. Not because it wasn't a good game... it was friggin' brilliant. No, it was because no one bought it. I did! You didn't. Don't group me in with those responsible. I bought a copy brand new the second week it was out.
All I'm saying, in a roundabout way, is to buy these games when they come out. The game makers are creating what we asked for. So let's show them it was worth it. Maybe then, they will finally make Lost Vikings III.

I have a reason to live again.
I need to bust out Diablo II again and play it through for old times sake. I spent so much time on my old necro, I hope I still have the save file...

DIABLO III!!! HOLY SHIT!!! (PUN INTENDED), man when we were still happy with the Starcraft II announcement Blizzard throws this, what's next? WoW II??? Not that i'm complaining jejejeje...
I can't believe Ubisoft gave and they're releasing to the ungrateful audience Beyond Good and Evil II, that's really good too...
But i am still more excited about Megaman 9, i'm talking about that in almost every message board...
For me it's no problem with buying the games brand new, so i will be doing my part like i did with all the Megaman and X series, Diablo Series and the first BG&E...

I don't really care about Diablo III. I tried Diablo II many times and I always got bored pretty quickly.
Mega Man 9, I think I already mentioned that I'd probably get that.
Beyond Good and Evil 2 though! That is kickass news. Although I did borrow the original from a friend and never actually finished it.
It was still awesome!

I think it's going to be like Mega Man Maverick Hunter X for the PSP. Where you can switch between the new and old style. That's my guess at least.

Even though I'm working in a start-up game company right now, I can't whole-heartedly agree with your slant. Before I get flamed, let me first list what I DO agree on:
= Awesome news about these releases.
= Diablo III and Mega Man 9 will do just fine.
= Used games make GameStop money.
= Supporting games you love is not a good thing, it is a great thing and it is critical if you want to see more.
However, I don't agree that used games are a bad thing or that we must buy a title because we clamored for it.
Used games are only available because someone bought it the first time. If no one sold their games, then a person would have to buy it new. If a game is sold, it would be because the person did not feel it had replay value (ie: game OK, but not good enough), they needed money to buy more games (still an OK thing), or because they copied the game and just sold it back (OK, that person is a d*ck and ripping off the creators).
As for buying a game just because we asked and begged and prayed for it, my only response comes from the movie world: Highlander II. After seeing that piece of crap on opening night, I wanted to set myself on fire. I told everyone I knew who even thought about seeing the film not to waste their time because it was an abomination. I hope and pray that these new games will live up to every ephemeral shred of hope within every fan's wet dream. But if they don't, don't support it.
Anyway, my job as a marketing guy is to make people want to buy the game. If you are not satisfied, I hope you try to sell it back instead of setting it on fire. Maybe someone else will like it better.
Lastly, you have a kick-@$$ comic that has been a joy for me to read and I even when I don't agree (or don't know the game) I enjoy your rants. I can't believe you finally wrote one that made me get off my butt and register for the forums so I could reply. I guess I'm not totally jaded after all...

While I don't mind them doing that, the scans from Nintendo Power say otherwise. (More info at Megaman 9 thread).
Anyway, despite the backlash from fans, I don't mind Diablo 3 having a bit more color so long as I have the same clickity goodness as Diablo 2.

Also Konami is doing the next Castlevania game, but is not 2D adventure, is a 3D fighter, so i don't know how i feel about this...

They're still making Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia for the DS which is a 2D adventure at least.
