It might be funnier if it wasn't true.

Sorry, I'm at Nekocon 11 right now. Just uploading a sketch of what I had to deal with today. Actually, it wasn't for shirts this time, but the Rejected Mega Man Villains poster. It's insane. People come by the table and stand there for five minutes reading and laughing at the poster the whole time. And then... They just walk away. If you enjoy the poster so much, then why not buy it? You have friends, don't you? Do you think they might enjoy it as well? You can look cutting edge and clever for having such a classy and witty poster in your bedroom/parent's basement. Let me help you by you helping me.

Nonetheless, I'll still be at Nekocon Saturday and Sunday. I'm going to try to post a new sketch comic after Saturday's day, too.

Such is the folly of being a merchant...

Could be worse, though. You could be an author.

First-a-doodle-doo.

Or maybe they just don't have any money. Cons aren't cheap, and people aren't made of money.

Personally, I -do- buy some of the shirts I like. But I can afford it.

Also, even if it's the funniest shirt ever, that doesn't mean there isn't something else they'd rather do with their money.

In short: My advice is not to insult your customers. And they -are- reading this. You won't convert anyone with this diatribe, but you will tick some of them off.

Trust me, I know how you feel. I've been selling at cons for YEARS. I have alot of funny stuff, including the Drunken Sailor Moon and Sailor Britney Moon posters. People come by, stare at them, laugh at them, grab friends and drag them over to look at them. I've even had people try to TAKE PICTURES of them. I draw the line there. Then they act all offended that I'd stop them.

People are just too stingy. I should charge them for it when they laugh.

Soosh. Now right there is a nice action word.

As freakdood said, such is the life of being a merchant. Maybe you should just set up some sort of robot. People will be drawn to it, you can program it to sell your wares and end up ahead due to the numbers game of having more people exposed to your product, and if people gawk too long it can cut them in half with an installed heat beam.

I admit it I've done that a number of times, though I try to support awesome stuff. Man it must suck to be one of those guys at those booths, I never really thought about them before. It's an eye opener, though I've only been to like two cons, I'll try to be more supportive and less browsey from now on

I usually can't or have something better to buy(no offense), but then i feel guilty for checking it out so I'll grab a complete stranger and smooth talk them into buying something, no matter how cheap it may be! I've taken a lot of beatings for it, but it's worth it! :P

Actually, this comic helped sell a few things because people read it. I understand that people have priorities that take precedence. And I don't want you spending money that you don't need to on novelty items, when there are more important things. But, I had hundreds of people standing at my table for five minutes at a time reading the RMMVs poster and loving it. Telling me how funny it was and how they'd love to have one. I find it hard to believe that those hundreds of people all have situations that don't allow them to purchase said poster and/or shirt.
